PROVISIONAL DRIVING LICENCE (PDL)

  1. What is Provisional Driving Licence (PDL)?
    Provisional Driving Licence is a licence, which allows you to learn driving on public road with a qualified driving instructor.

  2. When should I apply for my PDL?
    You may apply for your PDL once you have passed your BTT and before going for your practical lessons.

  3. Can someone apply the PDL on my behalf?
    No. You must apply the PDL personally, as eyesight check will be conducted.

  4. Is there a validity period for my PDL?
    Yes. Your PDL is only valid for 6 months.

  5. How do I apply for a Class 3 Provisional Driving Licence?
    Please apply personally at any Traffic Police Testing Branch with your NRIC or passport for foreigners, you will need your passport and valid work permit/student pass/EP/DP/PR, and a fee of S$ 25.00 during :-
    Monday - Friday : 0830 - 1700
    Saturday : 0830 - 1230

    Applicants are required to pass the eyesight and colour blindness test. All payments have to be made by NETS or CashCard only.

  6. How do I apply for a Class 2B Provisional Driving Licence?
    To apply for a Class 2B Provisional Driving Licence, you are required to produce your NRIC, and the Riding Theory Certificate upon passing Stage 5 (Assessment Checklist), with a break no longer than 1 month. You will then need to get the endorsement stamp from the Customer Service Officer and eye-sight test will be done at the Traffic Police Testing Branch.

  7. Where can I renew my Class 3 / 2B Provisional Driving Licence that will be expiring soon?
    Renewal of Class 3 Provisional Driving Licence can be done at any Singapore Post. Class 2B PDL can be renewed at the Traffic Police Testing Branch located at any of the 3 driving centres.

  8. Can I get someone to renew my PDL on my behalf?
    Yes but the person must produce your existing PDL.

  9. Can I renew my PDL before or after the expiry date?
    Yes. You can.

  10. Do I have to inform anyone after I have applied or renewed my PDL?
    Yes. You will need to update your PDL expiry date with us, as BBDC's system is not linked with the Traffic Police Department's system.

  11. What should I do if I have lost my PDL?
    You will need to obtain a duplicate copy of your PDL at the Traffic Police Testing Branch located at any of the 3 driving centres. A fee of $25.00 will be imposed.

  12. Can I continue my practical lesson if I do not possess or bring along my valid Provisional Driving Licence?
    You may proceed with your practical lesson in the circuit only.
